Exciting News

Younglife has been a huge part of my high school career, and the help of my leaders has really strengthened my relationship with God. I am so blessed to be involved with such an amazing organization. Last summer, Allen Younglife went to Crooked Creek, a Younglife camp in Colorado, and it was THE BEST WEEK OF MY LIFE. I knew this year I needed more. I needed to help others fall in love with the Lord. So around Christmas Break, I decided I wanted to serve on work crew at a camp. I went to all the training, but I sadly found out that I was wait listed to attend. After waiting a month, I finally received an email yesterday saying that I got a spot to serve as a member of work crew at Frontier Ranch in Colorado from June 16 to July 15. I can't even explain how excited I am; new relationships, escape from reality, a pair of chacos, perfect weather, and having the Lord's love be constantly poured in me.

My First Collection

In my gifted and talented English class, we were assigned a project to do whatever we wanted for the whole year. Yes, very broad, but it was supposed to be something we were passionate about but never had the opportunity to accomplish it. I decided to design a collection of clothes.

I started by finding inspiration. My inspiration was through the large flocks of black birds that sit in trees & yards in my neighborhood. As the birds fly away together at once, the black synchronized flow is amazing. I knew I needed to use darker fabrics & flowy materials.

I then sketched my ideas. I have never sketched or taken a drawing class, so my sketches are rough. But once I got the ideas flowing onto the paper from my head it ended up working out.

Finally I started sewing. Remember I have never sewn before. I got a sewing machine for Christmas, watched a DVD, and went on my way. I tried using patterns, but I hate reading a million instructions, and I got frustrated, so I gave up on those. So basically I free handed sewing with no previous skills. I would love to take sketching and sewing classes to increase my ability of tailoring.

Below are my designed products. I am very happy I must say. One LBD, one maxi skirt & crop top, one maxi dress, & one gown:

My Austin Trip Through Instagram Pics

I had one of the most fantastic getaway weekends. It was so great just to leave Allen for a little, but it was even better because I was in the crazy city of Austin. After an amazing tour, I am pretty set on the University of Texas being my number one choice for college. The automatic admission class ranking percentage is a small number, so I would have to continue working hard during my senior year (aka more stress), and then hopefully all the hard work will pay off. In just a small amount of time I feel like I visited everything & I even figured out what I want to major in, and not just one major but TWO. I plan on double majoring in fashion design & public relations. I just wanted to share a few photos from my 3 day trip.

Sunset lake view during dinner at Oasis.

I love that UT is right in the city near the Capitol.

Hook 'em by the Towers

My favorite wall in Austin.

We got coffee and a pastry every morning at JO's coffee which is part of the "i love you so much" wall.
I would move here in a heartbeat. Lake view at Hula Hut during dinner.

Austin Bound

I'm off to Austin, Texas to tour The University of Texas. This has been the college I have looked forward to since I was an infant. Both of my parents were longhorns, and maybe just maybe I will follow in their footsteps. I will take many pictures of the beautiful, weird, crazy city and create a new post with them when I get back home. I am excited to just get away for a couple of days.

Plans for ATX:
-find some eccentric thrifts & vintage pieces
-take the campus tour
-see the apparel & textile building
-visit sororities
-dine at quirky cafes
-visit the set of a family friend's video set for her class
-enjoy this mini getaway with my mom

Oh & I am super excited because we are staying on South Congress where all the cool vintage shops & food trucks are located in a small Austin feeling motel.

Gotye

A couple weeks ago, Gotye performed on SNL, & I instantly fell in love. His voice is so fascinating. I could listen to his music all day. My favorite songs are "Somebody that I Used to Know" & "Save Me." The music video for "Somebody I Used to Know" is pretty stellar as well.

StReSs stress STRESS

This has been my life for the past month. My mind has been racing and so discombobulated. I don't even know where to begin. School is killing me. Probably literally because physically and especially emotionally, it is draining me. I'm now more stressed because I just signed up to start my summer school class, government, early. Why do I do this to myself?! I take on too much, and before I commit to something I already know I am going to be stressed out in the near future. But I continue to follow the same path of having a crazy schedule. You know you are stressed once your eye starts twitching for a week now. The only things that are keeping me somewhat sane are my friends, my "relaxing" weekends, laying out while doing homework, & God's love. Today was the first day in a long time that I actually woke up with a smile on my face because I had prayed to be released of my stress for a little. I knew it was Friday & I was going to make the best of it. So that is just what I did. Hopefully I can keep this positive, stress free outlook on life a tad bit longer...One can dream.

Spring Pastels

I have been very inspired by mint green, lavender, pale pink, and baby blue. I like to keep little things out in my room that inspire my style for each season. As of right now, on my vanity, I have a jar of pastel m&ms and two new nail polishes. I also tore out a page from the March issue of Elle that I plan on hanging up.

I hope to get my hands on this adorable mint lace dress as well.

Dreary Days Drag

It rained all weekend in Allen, so I just spent my time crafting & drinking coffee. I made lyric & bible verse boards for my friends' birthdays. There are seven birthdays in April to celebrate! So so so many. Even though I sat in my room for hours watching The OC Season 2 & painting canvases, I actually enjoyed myself. Sometimes we just need weekends to relax & be by our selves.

Enjoying God's Creation

(View from my lake house) I wish I could wake up to this every morning.
I am going to set a new goal for myself. Some nights I get caught up with school or social activities, and I forget about my quiet times with the Lord. Those are what keep me sane & tend to be the favorite part of my day. I hate that I let MY plans and schedules get in the way of my relationship with God. So no matter how crazy my day is I am going to sit down outside, adore God's beautiful nature, & read the bible and journal all my thoughts.

Easter Sunday

For the past 3 years my family and I have spent Easter at our lake house. This Easter was no different. Since I do not get to attend an Easter Sunday Service, I read Luke and just praised God while I was surrounded by his beautiful nature. Being immersed in his creations with no distractions makes me realize how blessed I really am, and how thankful I am for Jesus dying for me to give ME, such an undeserving girl, an eternal life.

Arm Party

When the hot weather rolls around I like to layer my arms with what I call my "summer bracelets." They can spruce up any outfit from a plain t-shirt & shorts to a cute sun dress.

Summer Mindsets

I must say I am extremely upset that it is already Sunday. The fact that I have to wake up at 6 in the morning tomorrow, kind of makes me sick. But I will let all dreadful thoughts pass because I had an incredible weekend.

Friday night my campaigners(YoungLife bible study) leader put together a night of worship. You may think worship as singing, but no she explained to us that we are supposed to praise God through everything we do creatively. So we sat down, prayed for a little, and just painted whatever we felt like God was saying to us. It is so awesome to think that art can be a form of worship. I just had never heard of it before. I painted one of my favorite verses.
Psalms 45:11-"Let the King be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for He is your Lord."

After, one of my best friends, Courtney and I attended the baseball game, and we just hung out with our friends in the parking lot when the game was over. All we did was sit in a circle, talk, laugh, play with a basketball, drive with the top down with music blasting, and make a run to 7-11 for slurpees, but for some reason it was so fun. These are the times I am going to miss when we all go our separate ways for college. Just being a kid. Late nights outside around Allen make me so excited for the summer.

Saturday I went to the lake for my friend's Lesley and Deanna's birthday. About 20 of us just spent the whole day Saturday and Sunday laying on a big float, jumping from the top balcony into the lake, jet skiing, tubing, laughing hysterically, making memories, becoming sunburned, and setting our minds on the summer.

I guess you could say the theme song of the weekend was: Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepson.
