I'm Coming Home

When it's time for college, you are so ready to get out of your hometown and begin your new journey. Let me tell you, by August 28th I was SCREAMING, "get me to Austin." I have enjoyed every second of my life at the university of Texas {besides the mini break downs from stress of classes}. This week was the first time I was able to actually come home longer than 12 hours, and let me tell you, I was so ready to get back to my roots. There is weirdly such a different feeling driving back into your hometown after being in college. It's inexplanible, and it may sound cheesy, but it gives you the CHILLS. I love being home for a little break from school to be with my beautiful family. The best part is being able to reunite with your best friends and being able to hear all about their new journeys that you don't get to first hand experience with them. So cheers to new found loves, new found interests, new found passions, new found friends, old friends, old hometown roots, old memories in the place you grew up, your full size bed at home, the hugs of your mom and dad, and baking gingerbread houses with your mom and sister. On this week of Thanksgiving, I am more than thankful for the life I have been given with the experiences I have endured and will endure in my future. Enjoy your family, friends, and hometowns this week y'all!

Fashion x Film

I love when my two favorite creative industries merge together to create something fabulous. Recently, designer, Rachel Antonoff created a short film to expose the inspiration behind her Spring 2014 collection. The whole collection is inspired by the idea of "crushes." She was heavily influenced by the personally story of her parents first meeting, to becoming crushes, to eventually falling in love. The inspiration behind her collection simply came from her daydreams that usually consisted of crushes. Check out the quirky short film that I adore and a little interview by Rachel Antonoff on Fashionista-

Wide Open Spaces

School has been so chaotic, and my brain has constantly been running at 100 miles per hour. I just needed a get away from the busy life of campus. This past weekend my friends and I did just that. We spent the weekend in Llano, TX to clear our minds of clutter and fill it with peace.

Not a care that I could see

So good I could barely believe it was happening

Oh take me back again" Beautiful by Ben Rector

Out of chaos life is being found in You

need a little motivational monday

You know those times when there seems to be nothing creative that can stem from your brain? You feel like you are lost in a forest and you keep circling the same path without any knowledge of knowing how to get out? My brain has hit that point. I have three papers due within the next three weeks that all are no shorter than five pages each. I am stuck at that point where I feel hopeless. Like c'mon Clare there has to be something up there. just spit it out. I have realized that I struggle with getting the thoughts in my head onto the paper. It is definitely harder when all you want to do is either nap, watch netflix, go with your friends to Michaels to get some crafting supplies for your Halloween costume, surf the web, read the magazines you still have from Septemeber that you have YET to finish reading, or simply just want to blog. [ehh I kind of took a break and chose to blog] but seriously, I am at the point where I feel like there is NOTHING going on in my brain. You know that feeling where you just feel STUPID. I need some MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY in my life right now.

So to distract me from my negatives, here are a list of my positives:

  • TGIF

  • I get to see White Panda tonight

  • I'm enjoying the best cup of coffee

  • I have the chance to just have a relaxing weekend with friends

just try your best is what they tell you

It's a new time in my life, and I have recently found inspiration and motivation on this new journey in my life to begin blogging again. I am just beginning my crazy freshman year at the University of Texas with no sleep, sweet new friends, keeping up with social life, and attempting to stay in the know of today's pop culture [like Kim K's engagement. holy 15 karats. so casual.] and world news. I am so excited to see my dreams, hopes, aspirations, and goals come to life in the best city in Texas or maybe even on Earth, sweet 'ole hippy Austin. Here is a little welcome to my new life with some new great pals and new exciting journeys.

I am officially a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Throw up watcha know HOOK 'EM

my funky fresh homie BANGZZ (with a z)

I tried to find time in my schedule to keep up with fashion week, but with my chaotic school and social life it was sadly almost impossible.

If you come toAustin, TX at some point in your life, YOU MUST have a Hopdoddy's burger on South Congress.

Who knew my suite mate would soon be one of my besites & my sister?!

Another foodie tip: check out the Bananarchy trailer for the best chocolate/toffee covered frozen banana.

[find beauty in everything right?]

One of my favorite days was being able to go home and snuggle with my baby sis.

Life in Austin would be tough without these girls.

Just throwing it back to 1969.

Coffee shops are probably my favorite part of Austin. Mozarts on the lake is one of my go to study spots.

Just being all urban n stuff on the city Metro.

Getting away from the hustle and bustle of campus to sweet Lynden's beautiful home in Boerne, Texas.

My other suit mate, Grace, took us to dinner with her aunt at the cutest dessert lounge.

                                                               AND OU STILL SUCKS

Holycon is the hippest coffee shop downtown with indoor s'mores.

HATERS GONNA HATE (roomies loving roomie's birthdays)

I am so ecstatic about my membership with the University Fashion Group on campus.
[fingers crossed for NYFW in February.]

You Won't Catch Me in Camo

The army structured look has been seen on the runways at fashion week the past couple of seasons. We will see a lot of it this fall since multiple designers were influenced by the style. My favorite jacket is an army green cargo jacket that I purchased in the BP department at Nordstrom this August. I was first inspired by many bloggers who owned a similar jacket. The Man Repeller actually just featured hers on her blog. So no, I am not totally against army influences in fashion, but yes, I am not okay with the tacky camo print. Sadly, I have seen camo print attempt to make a comeback. But please stay away from the in-your-face print and leave it for special hunting occasions or tacky dress up parties.
How to take camo inspiration and make it work:

The Flower Child

I have blogged about my gifted and talented class before. Every year we are given a year long project free of choice. There are no guidelines besides ensuring it challenges us, and we turn in everything on the given due date. Like last year (my junior year ISP) I decided to stick with a project based around designing.

This year I did not just want to do a collection, but just one "out there" look. I was inspired by things I love. I was inspired by girls. I was inspired the sophistication of relaxing in my favorite chair with a cup of green tea and a book. I was inspired by the fascination girls have with dressing up in glitter and tulle. I found myself titling this piece "the things I love."

I wanted my piece to be made up of more than just basic fabrics. I wanted textures to bring my inspiration to life. I am very satisfied with my piece. I would obviously never wear this out in public, but I think many girls can relate to at least part of the girl found in this piece whether you are a girly girl, sophisticated, classy, enjoy a cup of coffee, enjoy a good read, enjoy being surrounded by girlfriends, or simply enjoy the beauty found within you.

Who run the world [GIRLS]

Now my beautiful baby sis, Abby, modeled my piece. ---->

Easter Sunday

I am obsessed with my family, and I cherish all the time I am given with them. I am blessed with two beautiful sisters and two parents who are absolutely in love with each other. Here in Texas, and the last day of March, the weather was superb. My dad cooked southwestern turkey burgers on the grill while my mom baked Martha Stewart inspired vinegar potatoes and sliced juicy watermelon. We ate our first meal in 2013 on the backyard porch. My sisters and I also baked strawberry cupcakes with strawberry shortbread icing. I am so blessed with a fabulous family, and I am more blessed with a loving Lord who died for MY sins, and then rose again, so I could live with Him eternally even though I still sin.

I hope you all had a blessed Easter Sunday.
