The Flower Child

I have blogged about my gifted and talented class before. Every year we are given a year long project free of choice. There are no guidelines besides ensuring it challenges us, and we turn in everything on the given due date. Like last year (my junior year ISP) I decided to stick with a project based around designing.

This year I did not just want to do a collection, but just one "out there" look. I was inspired by things I love. I was inspired by girls. I was inspired the sophistication of relaxing in my favorite chair with a cup of green tea and a book. I was inspired by the fascination girls have with dressing up in glitter and tulle. I found myself titling this piece "the things I love."

I wanted my piece to be made up of more than just basic fabrics. I wanted textures to bring my inspiration to life. I am very satisfied with my piece. I would obviously never wear this out in public, but I think many girls can relate to at least part of the girl found in this piece whether you are a girly girl, sophisticated, classy, enjoy a cup of coffee, enjoy a good read, enjoy being surrounded by girlfriends, or simply enjoy the beauty found within you.

Who run the world [GIRLS]

Now my beautiful baby sis, Abby, modeled my piece. ---->

  3. I love the inspiration behind this dress! You do love your green tea! You always bring a bit of sparkle to any event but not too much, which is shown in the top. You are unique and clever which I see the tulle skirt representing. Let's not forget the whimsical feel of the piece, which you captured perfectly by adding accessories and paint to your sis! You are creative

  5. I love the creativity you put into this! So different and unique yet simple and care free. You did an amazing job Clare! My favorite pieces would have to be the flower headband and the green tea bags. Mostly because they are small, simple, and original details that bring the outfit together and portrays the image you were going for! I'm so proud of ya Clare bear you rock, if I were a fairy princess who lived in the wilderness and was a fashionista diva like you, I would rock this every day. I love you and yolo

  7. You are right on time for the "found object" trend that's all over the art world right now. And you will LOVE college art classes! So I hope you're planning to take many of those and keep sharing your creations. Can't wait to see what's next, Clare!
